Default Ground Control patch names = 11R patch names?

I just got my Ground Control in today and got most everything working the way I want. I have a few questions, if anyone has any insight:

1) Patch Names - I have a ton of patches in the Eleven Rack with great, meaningful names. I can see that I can manually name the bank/patches on the GC by hand, but is there some way to dump the names from the Eleven Rack to the GC? I can put the ground control in SYSEX recieve mode, but couldn't find any way to "send" from the 11R. Just looking to save a bunch of time from having to type in the names manually with my feet. It would be great if when I was in bank 0, patch 0 on the Ground Control, it would display the A1 patch name from the Eleven Rack - am I asking too much??

2) Phantom Power - I've seen videos where people have one MIDI cable hooked up, and no power to the GC - yet it's powered up. I know devices like the GCX send phantom power - but does the Eleven Rack (I'm connected directly to it, in my case). I'm not sure if I have a 5-pin vs 7-pin cable (the wrong cable) or if it's not supported. I thought I'd ask here before I went up and bought a definite 7-pin MIDI cable)

SYSEx messages vary from device to device. In short, there is no way to dump 11R info to your GC directly. I'm afraid by hand is the only way. Alternatively, you might like to see if there's a GC editor and do it manually from there, it might be easier than doing it on the unit itself.

The 11R does not support phantom power.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Adam thanks - it's good to know, and this also sent me down another path. It turns out there IS a GCPro editor "Ground Control Pro Editor" by Sense electronincs, found here: http://www.sense-electronics.nl/?p=gcpe

Looks like it was built in the 90's or earlier!! But looks like it should work, I'll test it out tomorrow.

thanks again!!

For single line power from the eleven rack you can use one of these:
