Default HELP

So I need some help.

I'm looking to set up my own home studio. I want pro tools 11 but I'm not sure what direction to go in as far as hardware. I used to have a 002 with pro tools LE 8. I want something not too big and not too small. I just want to record little projects and mix things sometimes. I'll be recording drums sometimes so probably the most inputs id need would be 8. (Could pre mix)
Also I just bought an iMac 27in quad core.
Here's what I'm thinking so far:

Why couldn't I buy a 003 used(obviously) and buy pro tools 11 with it?
Questions I have about this....would I have to use FireWire instead of USB?
Also, mboxes are too small and even the smaller avid systems are too much in price. So would buying a used 003 be a good fit for me ?

you could but the improvement over what you have is minimal

yes you would need the TB to FW adapter

I would look at the UA Apollo myself or something from RME

Is there any problems with using the tb to fw adapter?

Also, what would I need to do as far as registering product, if I bought a used 003?
