Default External Firewire Drives

Hey there,
is anyone using an external firewire drive to run there entire PT sessions off, eg. recording and playback. I'm interested in having a dedicated external drive to be used in this way. What are some good hardrives that ACTUALLY work for this! I've already got one but it craps out after 5 minutes. The external drive is suppose to have some Oxford 911 chip in it, right??

Hello Blackaxe,

I have a G4 Laptop and i use external HD's. I use Seagate drives, I have a 300,400gb and a 250 G-Tech...No problem so far. The PT7 is on the G4' internal Hd and all sessions and audio are on the other drives.

The pluggins, as far as I know, belong on the system drive. The FW drive is used just for the data. When I open up a new session and PT asks me where to put said session folder, I pick the FW drive as a location.

I use OWC drives and they have served me well.
