Strange Problem With Automation.....Any Ideas?
I have a song with 24 tracks and 4 Aux tracks. when I go to write the automation for any of the tracks/faders it says "write." when I start the song However, it then fades out of the color red and wont write the automation.
I did go into prefrences and try to change the automation buffer size from 200 all the way up to 3000, (I tried a bunch of different settings) but nothing changed performance wise. I have never seen this or had it happen to me before. Any Ideas?? thanks (W98se) |

Re: Strange Problem With Automation.....Any Ideas?
not sure, but do you have the plug-in's in safe made, or any of the sends in safe mode? i'm not even sure if that's what that does, but it seems logical.

Re: Strange Problem With Automation.....Any Ideas?
Jeremy,
well I doubled checked all those suggestions you had and nothing was in safe mode. I also tested the automation on my other tunes and it worked fine. Whats happening is its blinking red (in the "write" mode). when I go to press play it just does not stay red, it immediatly fades and doesnt write. As soon as I stop the machine, it goes into blinking red "Touch" mode. Now the only thing I can say (and I dont see how this would matter, but what do I know). Is, this is the only song I started on my PC, burned a session cd that went to a friends Mac (for guitar work) and back to my PC where I finished up the tune with no other problems. PC/MAc compatibility was enabled. Now that I'm mixing I'm having these automation problems on every track (even the ones I recorded here on my PC) Any possible coralation??? thanks, Bobby |

Re: Strange Problem With Automation.....Any Ideas?
Maybe the session is read-only, so ptle can't write the automation......just a thought...
Go into the folder, rightclick the session-icon and see if the read-only checkbox is checked....if so...uncheck it. Hope this helps

Maybe this is stupid but did you check >Windows> Show automation enable. Maybe it's all set to unable by default?

Re: Strange Problem With Automation.....Any Ideas?
Is the track Record armed? You can't write automation on a Record armed track.
It's normal for it to switch from "Write" to "Touch" as a safety feature so you don't accidently erase any automation moves. Rail

Maybe I'm stupid bro cause I didnt even know about that setting all this time. it seems it's always been automatically set for all my other sessions exept this one (probably has something to do with it coming off a MAC platform) Thank you so much, that did the trick. Thanks to everyone who replied as well. you all are great! |
