How do I set protools to loop a certain length of timeline WHILST editing?
Hi everyone,
Thanks in advance for your help. I am currently working on a bit of midi sequencing. I found in the past when using programs like Cubase or Reason, I very much enjoy the workflow of having very rigid loop in/out points. I like to be able to edit my midi while the sequencer loops round and round without stopping. I find that in PT, when I set it to "loop playback" and then highlight the desired section of my sequence which I want to hear loop, the second I try to edit my MIDI notes, my loop markers disappear... The act of clicking anything whilst editing completely "un-highlights" my loop. Is there a way around this? Is there a way to set a concrete loop in/loop out section of the timeline where if the playhead enters, it begins to loop until I remove the loop markers on purpose? Pro Tools MUST have this feature or else my mind will be blown. Thanks again! |

Thanks for the info. I tried to disengage "link edit and timeline selection" but this does not in fact loop. It sets the loop in/out markers but does not loop back to the start of the "loop in" marker. I can't seem to find the info I need when researching dynamic transport. If anyone has more info I would appreciate it. Cheers |

Re: How do I set protools to loop a certain length of timeline WHILST editing?
a quick google of "pro tools dynamic transport"
reveals a few million (well, 2 1/2) hits, including vids. assuming you're new tp pt, pg 419 in the ref guide, under "help" and yes, disabling "link edit and timeline selection" does/ should allow to to edit notes, params, while either maintaining the loop or moving the in point at will. b.o.l e

loop playback , shift+/ (num keypad) , and make the loop selection in the TIMELINE (not in a track)
