Default 12.5 Meters Are Still Sluggish

In case anyone was wondering, I have stayed out of this discussion until the 12.5 release.
I can tell you a couple of things.
12.5 now works on my unqualified (which was qualified for PT 10) Core2Duo 2009 MacBook Pro. It would only open every 3rd time or so on launch and would freeze (beach ball) when opening sessions.
So after spending the money to upgrade to 12 and all my AAX plugins, I had to buy a new computer since I had paid for support but got the standard answer....we can't help you because you are using an unqualified computer.
$2000 later, I have 2 computers, the old one and the new one, which now run 12.5 exactly the same.
Meters still are not smooth if you have ANY plugin open.
Edit window is jumpy during playback.
Luckily never had noise blasts.
Been a user long enough to know optimization techniques.

4 core i7 2.6
core2duo

Identical results.

I guess I should at least give AVID credit for giving me a reason to go buy a new toy.

Bummer - I've noticed a slight improvement in the main window GUI lag (where the playhead stops moving) with 12.5, but am also still getting the meter lag and also the mix window faders are slow to move. I'm on a brand new iMac i7 running El Cap. Otherwise things seem to be ok - the video issue seems to be improved.

Curious - did you do a clean install or overwrite install?

Don't know What are you talking...

Make a video...

No problem here on Windows7

Worse case install bootcamp, windows7 pro/ultimate, or 8.1pro...
If still has the same problem is a Mac hardware related problem...

If you are comparing a real VU meter vs. plugin, of course there's no comparison.

Macs have a very limited video card selection/drivers.

The http://www.meterplugs.com/kmeter
Looks interesting...
Inter-sample peak meter with 4x times oversampling...
At 48KHz plugin runs at 192KHz.
At 96KHz plugin runs at 384KHz.
At 192KHz plugin runs at 768KHz.

The http://www.klanghelm.com/VUMT.php
I think is better than PSPAudioware VU meters, but... still far from a real VU meter.
Maybe using a 120Hz monitor, could be better...

Waves Durrough is also another nice.

Yep, I too was very excited to see the "bug Fix" regarding graphic sluggishness in El Capitan and yes, I too am disappointed only a slight improvement over 12.4.

My main gripe is the play head, it just isn't a smooth function and I'm on a nMac Pro (supposedly the top end of the Mac line up).

I'm about to start building a new system on an i7 iMac (brand new) so I'll be interested to see how that works as I recently built a system for a client on an old 4,1 Mac Pro running El Capitan and 12.4 and was AMAZED at the smoothness of the graphics and how responsive and snappy PT felt all reports are that the system is running rock solid - needless to say, I've advised the client NOT to upgrade to 12.5, if it ain't broke, don't fix it

I can say again, that on my machine, sessions created with 12.4 and played back on 12.5 still have a stuttering playhead. I then create a blank session with 12.5 and import all the session data from the old session....and the stuttering playhead is gone. This has now worked with 3 different sessions. Not sure what's happening, but I'm not arguing with success here.

As usual..YMMV

I tried that.
I will give it another shot or just wait until we start a new song.

Weird isn't it? I don't think it's the Mac graphics card - Pro Tools is the only one I'm having the lag issues with.
