Pro Tools 8/9/10 w/ Lion

Hi there,

just upgraded to OSX Lion and a bit confused.

I use PT8 LE with DIGI003, and it doesn't support Lion.

Well, should I:

1) Upgrade to PT9? Is it still around, where can I buy it and how much it costs?
2) Upgrade to PT10?

Which is the cheaper?

Pro Tools 9 is no longer available.
Just go to 10.
And we all want to save money but when it comes to audio and video there is no such thing as cheap at the end of the day. Especially in the world of software where there will constantly be upgrades and updates.

It's up to you to figure out what works for you and when to upgrade and when not to. Don't just follow the beast cause they release a new product.
Theres pro studios still using pro tools 5 and mix plus systems. Im sure alot less nowadays but that my friend is up to you.
But based on your situation go to 10.

And if you aren't happy about the current prices complain. Look PT 10 HD systems dropped in price quickly. God knows when I was at AES around the announcement of 10 with a friend we really gave it to Avid and told them how we felt. And I'm not saying it was because of us prices dropped slightly, but when people speak up eventually it becomes noticed.

A quick look on eBay showed 3 PT9 packages on the first of several pages(searching for pro tools 9)

PT 9 is absolutely still around, on ebay and other places.
You can get 9 for around $250.00 most days.
I have no idea what the 8>10 upgrade/crossgrade costs, but it can't be that much more than you'd pay for 9.

Yeah PT 7hd. Lynx - neve console and more outboard gear than sweetwater hahah. And dont forget that G5 - and I don't even think he wants to upgrade. Eventually maybe but he doesn't seen in a hurry
