Default 5.0.1 / 5.1 compatibility

Do you guys know if a studio is 5.1 and I'm running 5.0. and I have that studio make me some PTS files
from their 24 track analog reel machine will I be able to open the sessions in my PTLE system? In
other words will the difference in the versions mess things up. I really haven't needed to upgrade to 5.1.1
yet and I've heard that it can cause problems (only on certain systems). If I have to, I'll upgrade
but my ProTools system runs so well right now that I really don't want to mess w/ what ain't broke.

thanks in advance for any info.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Chris,

You shouldn't have to... I'm still opening up sessions that were created prior to my upgrade, and they open and operate just fine...

They should be fully compatible.

~Cheers~

Thanks Paco but I'm talking about doing things the other way around. Openning a 5.1.1 session w/ a 5.0.1 version. In other words opening the new w/ the old. Thanks for the superfast response though.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Ohh.... Humm... Well, I don't have any experence there. I could always email you a short 5.1.1 session for you to try and open to see if it works...

~Cheers~

It looks good, I can edit and add effects. Amazing! I'm having all my old 2" reel 24-track studio tapes converted. Thanks for your help...
