Default Weird error where MIDI goes dark each time I open session

So, I don't frequently run VI's, but I've just run into a weird problem.

Across multiple projects the MIDI on an instrument track goes dark (instead of blue) like it's inactive.

I can't figure out what's causing it, but normally inserting a new instrument track and then copying the old data over to it and then moving the inserts resolves it. Just copying the data makes the new one blue.

Pic attached.
