Downloaded Data Rescue II just to test it out. It works. Found a lot of deleted data on a partition on my system disk. Cool.

I'll run it on my next new harddive to se if the manufactor left something

Well, just because a (OS) drive is non-bootable doesn't mean its hopeless for data recovery. Had my WinXP drive crash pretty hard, requiring a reformat. But, I pulled the drive out and used a SATA > USB2 adapter to mount the drive like an external on another system. Drive came up, copied off all the pertinent data to another drive. Reformatted, and put back into the main system and went to town with a fresh OS install.
