pitch bend
hello - i am running pt le version 7.3.1 on windows xp sp2 - i am trying to figure out how to use the pitch bend controller in the midi track view selector - when i click on the pencil tool and i draw a line i can change the pitch - i also see that how far up or down along the y axis will give me a numerical value for how much the pitch will change (the values seem to range from 0 to 8191) but i am not sure what those values mean - can someone please explain the operation of the pitch bend contoller -thanks

Re: pitch bend
The amount of pitch shift that results from the pitch bend will depend on the settings of the instrument or module that is being controlled. If the pitch bend setting on the instrument is 1 whole tone, a pitch bend setting half way between 0 and the maximum will result in a pitch change of a semitone. If the setting on the instrument is an octave, half way will be 6 semitones. Some instruments allow different setting for pitch bend depending on whether it's up or down. Basically, it depends and you have to either play it by ear or do a little math if you want to be precise.
