Just a thought, but...
if you are using a nice enough mic pre to warrant not using the pmio's pre's... wouldn't it be worth it to get a couple of higher quality converters anyway? then you could just lightpipe or spdif them in... ? Two channels of decent A/D wouldnt' cost too much |

One of the uses we would have had for the PM is for live preformance recording, where we would take console direct outs into the line inputs. We do a decent amount of this, and corrently use a pair of Mackie MDR's. It would be nice to have a relatively small 8 channel (or 16 with lightpipe) options, but since the PM can't handle the level, it's not an option.
However this is most likely not a big useage factor for the PM, thus the cost savings cut in design. It's not the first M-Audio product to have this design. |
