Mbox with 10.3.9 - which version??

I just got a new powerbook (1 gig ram, 1.67GHz, superdrive, OS 10.3.9) and I have an mbox. I installed 6.1 and know that it isn't compatible with OS 10.3. Then I downloaded PT 6.4 from the digi website. It seemed to work just fine until I tried to process a file and got the error message -7401.

Can anyone help me out with getting protools to work? Do I need to buy an upgrade? I'm going to transitioning to portable mode soon and cannot proceed if my laptop won't work!

To start with, did you do all the things in the "OSX General Setup & Troubleshooting" thread at the top of the forum? Also, what kind of hard drive are you using and how much RAM is in your powerbook?

You could potentially try upgrading to 6.7 or 6.9 ($75), but another issue might be the 10.3.9 OS - it isn't officially supported by digi, but several folks use it anyway with good results. 10.3.9 slowed down my G5 pretty heavily so I'm personally not a fan, but my Mbox still works with 6.4 just fine on it regardless.

Do you have any old plugins that need updating too? Do you have at least 512M RAM?
