Re: Record Clips Starting at a take number other then 01?
Do it in playlists.
Comp the playlist. You'll get the naming you want. Record in playlist view if not seeing all your takes at once seems foreign. ADR has been done a long time in Pro Tools and the workflow works (and is fairly standard everywhere.) The file name always takes the track name. The number after the name with (after the dash) changes all the time due to editing/clip separation. You can't count on the post dash numbering (go back and do one edit and your numbering will suddenly be off.) Or if you go in order, batch clip rename and then commit the clip name to file name. The suffix numbering will accomplish what you want. (commit clip name to file name is just select all the clips -- as long as they are still full files -- and open to rename all files and just hit enter through which will transfer the clip name to the file name.)

Re: Record Clips Starting at a take number other then 01?
There’s no way to start ProTools takes with a preset seed number. If youre recording linearly, best to just keep track of takes and batch renumber at the end of the record and export the renumbered clips.
Playlists work great for ADR but not for linear recording on the timline with fast start/stops. After 100 takes the playlists take up too much screen space. Especially if recording multiple people at the same time. If I need to renumber the takes I make periodic markers of what the take is supposed to be so I can go back and spot check that my renumbering is correct. |

Re: Record Clips Starting at a take number other then 01?
Trying to control Pro Tools' automatic suffixes is almost impossible. Do what most of us do: Use playlists and increment the playlist to stamp take numbers in the file. If you find the "_xx" suffix that Pro Tools adds to that file (i.e. Bob.201_xx) objectionable then just batch rename the clips to strip off the last 3 characters of the region name.
There are some hoops you can jump through to get the auto suffix to start at _01 again; here's a post on how to do that: http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2434791 But there's no way to start at some arbitrary number.
