They will be different in several ways. More specific details to come soon.
Users will have many options to choose from with 12.3 having Commit and Track Bounce and then soon after Track Freeze.

Hardware Inserts are supported. If you attempt to commit a track with a Hardware Insert you can only commit it in real time

A bit unclear to me, can we commit Inserts only and leave Sends uncommitted? Is that what the Copy Sends does?

That would only make sense.

Correct.

You can even Commit only the first few inserts - leave several 'virtual' and copied over plus the sends

From what I understand the difference is that track freeze doesn't require a new track to be created and track commit is just a shortcut (a very impressive shortcut I admit) to the standard track printing.

Absolutely right. I spaced on that one. I'm suffering from a bit of PT information overload at the moment.

this is what gets you guys into trouble don't keep saying coming soon over and over. Announce a product - when it's released!
It's really amateur and lame to keep saying coming soon over & over.
If I told that to recording clients and some point they will stop being my clients.

it cannot go both ways here .. either they give us a carrot about what they are planning so we do not bitch to high heaven or they clam up and we bitch to high heaven because we want more info on upcoming releases ...

pick a side but there is no middle ground, but patience ..

if i had to choose i would rather know what they are planning .. coming soon does not bother me anymore since the communication is steadily getting better ...

just my .02 and remember that Digi/Avid have always taken longer than other companies to authorize and bless new systems, OS's, and upgrades ..

cheers john
