Default orig EAS Inspector XL and 7.3.1 on intel macbook pro?

just did a new install of 7.3.1 on my macbook pro 2 ghz running 10.4.9, tried twice and the inspector XL plugs are not showing up - assuming i really do need the $20 RN upgrade for intel's despite that i was hoping not to? just want to make sure i am not missing something. i have my original installer and pasword from when i purchased it from EAS, tried twice and restarted a few times, no luck.
