Yeah, I'm seeing this problem as well and posted on it in another thread.
I seem to think the problem is correlated with the H/W buffer size, though.
For me, it is less frequent with large buffers, more frequent with small buffers.

Digi has only responded to this issue when I originally stated that reinstalling "fixed" the issue and through another post.

This is affecting other customers besides me. Please suggest SOMETHING, even if it's "please wait for the CS update"

Ok, have all of you done the steps in the Win XP/ Pro Tools 6.x General Troubleshooting thread yet?

I didn't see any specific info that you had.

Please list your complete system specs, any attached peripherals, number and types of drives attached and any other info that may be relevant.

You don't have "2 bars" turned on do you?

The behavior is similar to a slow machine with not enough RAM....clearly not the case here but it makes me wonder if it's memory related. Try setting your virtual memory to "no paging file"... It's a shot in the dark but certainly worth a try.. also, disconnect the USB drive you mentioned.

hope this helps,

I have 6.4 and it intermittently hangs up on recording tracks. 30 seconds later, it unlocks and it's like this throughout my sessions, very frustrating. I keep hearing Pro Tools 6.7 was a stable version and I can't find this anywhere. Can any of you suggest where I might find LE 6.7 for Windows XP? None of the stores seem to carry it. I'm not ready for 7 yet.
