Default Migrating/Updating to MBP Retina

My bride just surprised me with a new MBPro Retina for our anniversary. She heard me say that my current MBPro isn't officially supported for PT11. I have what is in my signature which will now be my "Studio B" rig.
As to migration of plugs, etc., is it better to just install fresh or can I migrate some things from my "old" Spring 2011 MBP?

Reinstall.

You can salvage stuff but keep it fresh and tuned to what you actually need and use.

I appreciate that. My gut told me exactly that but I wanted outside opinions from smarter people.

I've always done a fresh install. And if you're going to get pt11, you may wait until it comes out to install anything. Because nothing out now will work in 11. I guess it would make some sense if you thought you'd need 10 and 11 on the same machine. But I think I may get a new HD and start from scratch with 11. And not have anything from 10 on it.

That said, I'm pretty sure Phil O'keefe (HC forum mod) just used migration assistant to move everything to a new MBPr with no problems. Guess it wouldn't be the worse thing to try. You could wipe the drive as start over almost as easy as starting over anyways. So there's a bit of a look from both sides. Lol.

I figure I will load both 10 and 11 on this machine. I have a perfect 10.3.5 working on my now "B" rig; and I know the PT 11 is a drag and drop. Unless someone chimes in and tells me to use PT 11 only I will plan to install both 10 and 11.

Remember that with the license asset for PT11 you also have the asset and ability to run PT10 and PT11 on the same machine but not at the same time. So yes, you can install both 10 and 11 on one computer. As to how well they'll play with each other when it gets to us and out of the hands of the beta testers - who knows?
