Question Power consumption of the 192IO Digital and HD IO Digital

Hi, Avid

I can not find this information anywhere. What is the maximum power consumption of the 192 IO Digital and the HD IO Digital?

I have found the numbers for the ADAt Bridge 24 and Adat Bridge 20, which is 30 Watts or VA.

Thanks

Looks like a detail that is hard to answer as there's no mention in the manuals. Sort of begs the question, why do you need to know? One way to figure it out would be to open it up, find the fuse value and do the math

1.5 A ; 100-240V. Just this info at the rear panel.

P = V x I.....

But of course it does not drain 165 Watts . ( @ 110 V)

LOL

HI Alecio:)

Power Consumption? Why do you need to know this? Just curious:)
I'll do some digging if you want..G

Actually it´s near 150watt. Digidesign stuff is hungry.

I had to rewire my electricity when I invested in PT HD hardware including Control 24 and Digi 192...Coming from just a MOTU 896HD interface, the Digidesign stuff added 500W of power to my setup

Hi, firechild
I had seen that table too but I want the info about the 192D and the HD IO.
Avid Digital interfaces certainly are much less power hungry.

They do not have AD stages neither tubes. Probably the 192 IO and the HD IO analog shall go up to 200 W..

It amazes me that nobody at Avid has not written here this data yet.

Perhaps because no one is really worried about the power consumption. If you're that tight for power than I suggest having an electrician come in and add some new circuits. What these interfaces draw is minimal compared to what a loaded MacPro desktop will draw - that runs in the neighborhood of 12 amps on a 120 VAC circuit.

What you can do to measure the current draw yourself is to make up a power cord where you have physically separated the 3 conductors (hot, neutral, ground) from each other and use a clamp-on ammeter to measure the current on the hot lead. You should have no current draw on the neutral or ground leads. Note that you don't actually contact the conductors because the inner insulation is intact. It's just that the outer jacket of the cord is opened for a few inches to provide the separation to get the ammeter clamp around. These ammeters aren't expensive.

What, do you have the Microwave Plugin? More like 2-2.5 amps, max. SB

Not for a MacPro. See this page on the right hand side just a little down from the top under Electrical and operating requirements heading. Max current of 12 amp on low voltage (120 vac) or 5 amp on high voltage (220 vac). Don't know where you got your current draw from for a desktop unit.

These machines are power hogs.
