Default Pro Tools Sync Out Of Whack

Hello all i got a problem with getting m-powered 7.3cs5 to sync..Up untill 2 days ago it worked perfectly fine.I have pro tools midi to a roland mv8000 at first i thought somehow my setting got messed up but i didnt change anything the system has been the same for about 6 months no problems.So i thought it might be my soundcard but i have live lite 6 installed and it syncs perfect.I also downloaded reaper to make sure it was not he soundcard.And once again it synced perfectly.Okay i tried again and this time it synced but only on 1 track then it will not sync again.On exit of pro tools it crashes windows having to restart as nothing on windows will work after the crash Says(would you like to send error report)

Thanks

System Specs

Windows xp pro service pack 2
Intel(R) Pentium(R) D Cpu 3.00 ghz dual core
1gb Ram

You're going to have to be more specific; sync to what?
Quote:

Then logically, something you have done two days ago has caused your problem. Installed any software? Updated any software? Connected any new hardware? (that includes jump drives, etc)

Again, it can't just automatically or "magically" have changed. Something has to have changed for it to not be functioning now when it did before. That is a logical assumption, yes?

You are comparing apples to oranges here; Live and Reaper are rewire applications and the synchronization of rewire applications and MIDI hardware are two completely different and largely unrelated procedures.

That's actually a different issue altogether, and is an indication that you may have incompatible software installed.

So you have two issues;
  • a problem with your mv8000 (which still isn't quite clear)
  • a problem with your software that is causing a crash at shutdown of the application
Two totally separate problems.

We need a lot more information than that.

Please post specs about your system as directed at the end of the General Troubleshooting thread.

Please also download the Tech Support Folder as also directed there, run the Tech Support Utility located within, and generate a list of the plugins you have installed. That will help us eliminate the plugins as causing your second issue.

OK. When I said this:
Quote:
Please post specs about your system as directed at the end of the General Troubleshooting thread.
I was talking about these instructions:
Quote:
=====

Note: To enable other users to help you, please include all of your system details when posting an issue to the DUC; Pro Tools hardware, Pro Tools software version, CPU, OS version, Motherboard make/model, chipset, amount of RAM, type of hard drives used, etc.

- SiSoftware's Sandra Lite application can be used to post your full system profile:
www.sisoftware.co.uk
Under SiSoftware Sandra, click on "Download & Buy" to download the free Sandra Lite version or purchase other versions. After installing Sandra, click on the 'Hardware' tab and run the 'Computer Overview', then copy and paste into your post here on the DUC.
The information you have posted will be helpful with making some suggestions, but the other information that was requested will be more thorough and accurate, and allow those here that wuold help you to have a more detailed picture of what you have and be able to make more accurate suggestions.

You have only the stock plugins installed; rare and unusual, but that eliminates the plugins. What other audio software do you have installed? You mentioned Reaper and Live; anything else?

The Pentium D... it's a dual core processor. Have you installed the Microsoft Dual core hotfix? It fixes a problem with the Windows operating system that can cause errors in the MIDI clock when using multi-core processors. If you haven't installed it, it definitely could be what is causing your problems (though it should have always been a problem).

1. could be bad RAM - get a tester (and let it run for a minimum of three passes) from http://www.memtest.org

2. do you have the dual core hotfix installed?

3. are you overclocking the cpu?
