002 rack problems
I'm having serious trouble with my 002rack. The sample rate light no longer comes on when the unit is powered up and it therefore will not work. I have had the unit for about 2 years and haven't put that many hours on it (maybe 200 tops).
The problem developed like this: After being out of town for a couple of weeks i returned home and powered up the unit. It was on for 20 or 30 minutes and the sample rate light clicked like i'd just turned it on and interrupts playback. It clicked a couple of times just as it has always done when first turned on and returns to normal but it repeats doing this more frequently the longer it has been on. It got worse and worse and at this point, when I turn the thing on the mute light illuminates but that's it. Nothing else and the software wont start because it doesn't recognize that the unit is on ("unable to locate digidesign hardware"). I know it's not the computer (??) affecting it because it does the same thing even when the computer's not turned on or hooked up. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks, carl p.s. Though my computer is apparently out of the loop on this problem it is a carillon core 3system: 2.8 ghz, 2-80 gb hd/ 1-80gb sata hdd, 1 gb ram |

Re: 002 rack problems
You are experiencing the infamous and dreaded "power harness" problem.
Contact Digidesign and they will send you out a replacement harness ASAP. The temporary fix is to open the unit and reseat the harness. Contact cleaner has been known to help as well.

Re: 002 rack problems
I am presently going thru the exact same issue. I called Sweetwater ( I bought my stuff from them - Music XPC and Digi002) earlier today and they're shipping me a new harness.
