But only two T3 ports. And one is for power. ILok, Audio interface, Midi Interface. Focusrite said its 18i20 should have its own T3 port, using a T3-USB adapter, Plus I have to get UA in the loop; Apollo Solo? And yes, I AM aware that UA is not supporting Big Sur yet.. If I can resolve this, I will order. Like 5m ago!! Last edited by TimothyJohn; 11-18-2020 at 01:37 PM. Reason: unintentional omission |

External powered- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...W3shfYeajIcaPs External powered with 3 TB4 ports! (Soon to be released from OWC). https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/owc-...FpOJT_ZlT3C708 Bus powered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Many are hinting that Apple will bump the line soon. An Apple Rep said that the remainder of the laptops will also be ARM'd in 2021. I'm not waiting. Each time I turn on my 2011 17" MacBook Pro, I get a black screen. I must boot it 2x to get the screen lit up. It's a roll of the dice for me each time I turn it on. Also, my wife's ancient iMac's internal drive stopped mounting. She's been booting from an external. I will be much more satisfied with a MacBook with 4 T3 ports. So, with my daughter getting ready for college next year; I decided to get two MacBook Airs. My wife gets 8cpu/8gpu, 16gb RAM and 512gb SSD. Gold. I get to use my daughter's 8cpu/8gpu and 1TB SSD, Gold, til this summer, when hopefully, the second wave of ARM'd MacBooks hits. Perhaps I can even get a free pair of AirPods? Interesting observation: As I started compiling the order, and setting up 0% for 12 months, I saw that I could pick them up on Monday. In the short time I spent finishing up, no Apple store in my entire state had them! I am now looking at delivery of Dec 6-23. The Apple Rep mentioned that the sales are through the roof, and that this MIGHT bump up the timeline for the second wave of ARM'd Macs... Thank you all for your input. Have you thought about the Mac Mini with the CalDigit TS3? Keep in mind nothing is ARM or Big Sur compatible yet.... but it will. I've heard the M1 chip can drive huge processing and takes a lot to kick in.

As I said, this will become my daughter's by the time Fall 2021 comes around. At that point, hopefully the 2nd wave of ARM'd MacBooks will arrive; with 4 T4 ports!! Yes, I DID look at the CalDigit T3. VERY cool! But to start, this bus powered one should do fine. Once UAD gets on board, I probably WILL have to use the CalDigit, so I can hook up a T3 Satellite, or Apollo of some sort. I'd HATE to give up using UA. Thanks! |

Huh, this sounds very cool. Even Macbook Pro 13 inch (Intel) had the problem to offer only two external displays. If by now even the Macbook Air can offer up to five external displays it can fit for all small post production jobs.
