Headphone monitoring
I have an Mbox and I was wondering about how to monitor with two head sets at the same time. For example if I am jaming with another guitarist plugged directly into the Mbox how can both of us hear at the same time. Like wise with the Keyboard and a singer how can we both hear what is going on. Is this possible or do I need to use monitor speakers. Then I would be concerned with the mic pickeing up the sound from the speakers.
I am new at this thank you for any help you can offer. |

Re: Headphone monitoring
You could buy a small passive headphone splitter or if you are interested in moving towards a more Pro approach you could get a proper headphone amp.

Re: Headphone monitoring
Thank you. I do have access to a headphone amp which we use playing live. The signal that the Mbox sends is not to strong for the input of the amp?

Re: Headphone monitoring
I have the Digi 001 and I was doing this a couple of days ago. I had a 'Y' cable plugged into the headphone socket and a pair of headphones running from that. The mix was made mono at the Pro Tools mixer as one pair of phones was monitoring the left channel and the other the right. Unless you want different mixes in each of the the phones then I suggest you mono the mix output. If you need a stereo mix for each then you will need a mixer, headphone amp or possible a cable splitting both left and right channels and not sharing them.

Re: Headphone monitoring
I picked up a Behringer headphone amp for $80.00 you can hook up four headphones with separate controls one each channel. You should check that out.

Re: Headphone monitoring
Mike,
Might wanna check out the Rolls HA43... I use one with my Digi001. It's 4 headphone outs, independent volumes, it's small and it's powered by a tiny DC wallwart. But it's made in the US and built like a little tank. Oh, and it's black. My favourite colour. Henry Lee |
