hi,

if you want to enable later : defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO
Take care

Hi,

I get the message...

-bash: com.apple.dashboerd: command not found

?

After typing the "com.apple.dashboerd mcx-disabled -boolean yes" should i be pressing return? or just leave it etc.

Regards

Chris

don't disable spotlight. it's a great feature... but you can disable which hard drives it indexes and what hot keys brings it up.

go to system preferences -> spotlight

Hi.

In what way is Spotlight useful to a PT/Tiger user? I turned it off with Spotless because some users said it made PT more reliable. This worked well for me, but it should be said that I updated a rather troublesome RMX at the same time.
Thanks.

"defaults write com.apple.dashboerd mcx-disabled -boolean yes"

then from the terminal

"killall Dock"

your dock will restart and you can drag the dashboard icon out.

sure, that is my question...read some stories bout disable spotlight on macosxhints and most of them replied that the search in finder is down..so i am a little afraid to do the hack...it seems that spotlight is to deep implemented in finder.spotlight takes only cpu when doing indexing.what jeremy says make sence, just prevent spotlight from indexing your audio drives in spotlight preferences....thanks,
Dirk

Hi,

Thanks everyone, have used spotless to turn off spotlight and dashboard killer to turn off dashboard.

Whether it will make any difference remains to be seen! but i don't need them to make music and the less thats happening on the mac the better it should run??

Chris
