Re: Audio restoration plugins
No, Melodyne is not the tool for hum removal. An EQ with notch filters is, whether that EQ is by iZotope or other. I think the 7-band EQ3 might even have a preset for it.

Re: Audio restoration plugins
I did a quick search and in fact couldn't find any examples of Melodyne being used for hum removal. Still I think it could be used for removing more audible kind of noises, at least technically.

Re: Audio restoration plugins
I'm digging Soundsoap v5 by Soundness. It's cheaper than most options and fantastic at scrubbing away the nasty bits of dirt.

Re: Audio restoration plugins
Oh yeah, I haven't heard of that since Bias went bust.
Does anyone know what became of Peak?!? |

Re: Audio restoration plugins
Steve Berkley appears to be running Soundness. Soundsoap must be wholly his IP. There's no mention of Peak so either he doesn't have all rights to it or he's decided to let it go. Soundness is maintaining the licensing server for Bias' products.

Re: Audio restoration plugins
Although I have RX, I still seem to think the absense of Peak has left a huge hole for decent stereo editors on the Mac. Even Soundtrack Pro seems discontinued.
I'm sure there are a few efforts done by smaller developers, but that creates another problem with reliability. Unless they've been doing it for 10 years and have a proven track record of good support and reliability, I don't really feel confidence in going indy. No offence to all the indy developers out there. |
