Default artist mix and faderport together?

I was using my bcf2000. I actually got good at it. Prior to that, I had a faderport which I was also good at.

Finally got my artist mix but it really bugs me I have to press that bottom shift button or whatever you call it to press play and stop.

I'm thinking about adding a faderport. Or I could add the avid transport.

Any thoughts of the faderport and artist mix together?

thanks!

If you have to press the shift buttons to operate the transport functions like play/rec/stop etc then something is avry with your unit or need to be setup and programmed correctly.

We had 4 artist units up until lately and never had to press shift to use those functions.

The faderport and the artist series go together fine in my experience. Faderport uses the HUI protocol and the artist series go over Eucon, but I haven't seen any problems running them together in my edit room alongside either a Transport, Mix, or both.

I also love the Artist Transport as well (even though they are now discontinued for the much more expensive Dock). The Transports have great controls and a big ol wheel, but their best feature are the fact you can program any or all of its buttons as soft keys. Can be made into a killer timesaving unit if you take the time to program it to your preferences.

I actually bought a faderport last year but it had no support for the latest OS X. I don't know if there's a new driver, but I believe it's still considered to be a discontinued product, beware
