Connect Yamaha QS300 to PT6.4 OS10.3 HELP

Hi,
I am trying to get my Yamaha QS300 keyboard to work properly with my mac. I have it connected with a 1 in 1 out edirol usb interface. I have managed to record midi onto PT. However I have to manually select the voices on the qs300 to get any sound. If I stop the playback and restart, there is no sound and I have to again reselect on the keyboard. I am unable to select sounds on QS300 via my computer. I selected the qs300 in the midi studio setup, hoping it would solve the problem but it didn't sem to do anything. Also the qs300 modes are song, voice, pattern, phrase, utility and disk. Which mode should I have the QS300 in when using pro tools rather than the internal sequencer? I have been trying to figure this out for days. Please help.
