Default "The Operating system held off inturrupts for too long. Try increasing..... -6086"!

Hi,

I know you're very familiar with this error message already, and I don't mean to cause any stir by creating a new thread about it. Though there are hundreds of posts I still can't seem to find any answer that suits my needs. I've followed the enclosed installation manual and gone through all the procedures I've found online. I've tried to increase the buffer size like the error message tells me to, and when I do I'm being told to decrease it.

I have both ram and a processor which should cover more than needed power for Pro Tools tracks. Still it crashes two seconds in when recording only a single track using a microphone.

I'm using Pro Tools LE 8.0 with a Mbox 2 Pro. I have a SSD system drive, and a SATA HDD for storage purposes in which I also store all my Pro Tools associated files.

Hopefully you can point something out. Thanks it advance.

Wow! It's that simple? Thanks!

I haven't read this anywhere, so I didn't find out until now. I'm downloading the update, and I'll get back to you if it doesn't solve the problem.

Odds are about 50/50 on that VIA firewire not working, so keep your fingers crossed

Seems like I took the joy a little in advance.

Even though I've done both actions suggested by Uller, I still keep getting the same error - now with error number -9129. Again I try increasing the buffer size, but as before it then asks me to reduce it....

This is the error notification: "Audio processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks. If this occurs often, reducing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine Dialog may help prevent the problem (-9129)."

I just want to get on and record my music, you know. I even get this error while simply executing playback of a recorded file. I've checked Task Manager, and while on playback it says I'm only using between 1%-4% of my processor power.

What does the post quotated below mean? My motherboard is brand new, and I don't have any problems using the Mbox 2 Pro with any other software either. It seems like a Pro Tools problem, really.

Am I getting this right: There seems to be a Pro Tools compability problem with my Firewire connectors?

If the Firewire connectors' gone bad, any other answer seems a little weird though. Since I don't have any problems with any other software using the same Mbox on the same PC.

Oxford 911 1934's: Is this a brand or a production standard?

Actually, the Oxford chipset is for firewire drives. What you need in your computer is a TI chip firewire controller(TI= Texas Instruments). The TI chip is preferred for any audio application. SIIG offers several models with a TI chipset(wish I could remember the numbers). You need to see what you have for open slots as they come in PCI and PCIe configuration. Let us know which slot you have open and somebody here will be able to offer the right part number(cards are in the $35-65 price range).

Hi again, Albee.

Thanks for the reply. It seems like my main card has PCI Express inputs. There's one large slot idle, and two small ones.

Are you sure this is the problem? It's really weird that this doesn't happen when I use Cubase. The reason I post this is because I enjoy using Pro Tools so much more, so hopefully we can sort this out.
