Default Pro Tools 10 will not open properly

I am using Pro Tools 10 on a i-mac os 10.7.3 with 8 gig of ram Lion operating system.

I get the following message.

Could not create a new document because assertion in volume development ws.ludwig/Alturaports/dfx/macBuild../view/uMenu.macOS.mm/line 1350.

Also when trying open a recent session get the error that pro tools playback engine does not support 44.1khz.

I tried several fixes from things posted on forums, which included:
repairing permissions,
re-installing drivers,
checking cable connection to mbox2 pro interface,
re-booting.

Also tried the fix below:

v-Delete the "Digidesign Databases" folders on the first level of all mounted hard drives.
-Delete the "Volumes" folder:
Pro Tools versions 7.3 and earlier it's located in MacHD > Library > Application Support > Digidesign > Databases.
Pro Tools 7.4 and higher will find it in MacHD > Library > Application Support > Digidesign > Databases > Unicode.

No Digidesign folder was found under application support.

Also, is Pro-Tools 10 compatible with BFD drums software.
It used to be include as a bundle with Pro-Tools 7.

Any help would be appreciated.

Default Re: Pro Tools 10 will not open properly

I am on PT 10.0.1 running Mac Snow leopard and I got the same error.

Try, as dumb as this sounds, changing your playback engine in the setup menu to built in output. I just had the same error and it fixed it.

Don't try to launch a new session. Simply launch PT, close all error dialog prompts , and change the playback engine.

Hope this helps.
