Guitar Tab to midi in PT8?

Since I've not upgraded yet, i was wondering if anyone could tell me if it's possible to program midi parts using the Chord Diagrams (guitar tablature) in PT8 or are they just for showing what is being played from the score? (ie to assign to a Virus plugin with a simple arpeggiator or use something like this http://www.kvraudio.com/get/3104.html )

I would love to drop tab chords onto the score and have it play back simple midi chords. If this isn't possible does anyone know of a midi plugin or instrument that will do this?
