Default Strange behavior related to timeline

Hi everybody,

So here it is, session starts at 00:00:00:00, import OMF (from FCP) at 10:00:00:00 (52 min program). PT is reacting real slow.

I copy all the audio and paste it at 01:00:00:00, PT is responsive again.

I change the session start and put it at 09:00:00:00, eveything is running smoothly.

I'm running PT 7.1 CS4.

Any idea ?

Thanks for your time.

I think the default timeline limit in Pro Tools is 11:00:00:00. If you are running a 52 minute program starting at 10:00:00:00, you are running right up to that. I have heard of this making PT run slow before. I think this default time can be changed in preferneces. You can copy everything down the timeline to a different location and run with a offset if you have to layback to another machine. I hope this helps.

Your complete timeline can not exceed 4,294,967,295 samples which at 44.1kHz is about 11 hours... if you start your session at 10 hours you can go up to 21 hours.

An unsigned integer can only count up to 4,294,967,295 before it rolls over.
