Default Static with Mbox

I just got my mbox hooked it up no prob, but I get nothing but static when I try to playback. I have a ibook 800mhz, 640 ram, running OS 10.2.6, and PT 6.0.1. Help?

sounds like you need to change the hardware i/o from s/pdif to analog - under the setup menu

J Rock,

First make sure you are running the latest firmware version on the mbox:

You can download the OS X Mbox firmware updater here:
http://download.digidesign.com/suppo...irmware20x.hqx

Also, check the following:

Trash Pro Tools preferences Go to Users > “your user name” > Library > Preferences and trash DAE Prefs, DigiSetup.OSX and Pro Tools LE 6.0 prefs. Then restart the CPU.

Make sure all drives are formatted Mac OS Extended (HFS+) with OS X’s Disk Utility. Pro Tools can not use UFS or HFS volumes for audio drives.

Try quitting Pro Tools and launching Apple's "Disk Utility" application. Select your boot drive (or any other drive that's having a problem), go to First Aid and select "Repair Disk Permisions." Apple recommends doing this any time an OS update or reinstall is done with OS X.

Hope this helps.

Mike

Turn the input/playback knob all the way to playback.
