Default Can't reinstall Pro Tools 8 from DVD

I recently had my Mac hard drive formatted so I need to reinstall my Pro Tools 8 LE. But when I try to install using the disc it says "Installer could not install the software because there was no software to be found" Can anybody help me with this?

What OS version do you have. Can you download the 8 installer(many of the install disks were defective)?

Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 Macbook Pro. The disk worked the first time I installed Pro tools, which was a couple years ago actually. I haven't had to reinstall until now and suddenly the disk doesn't work? Also, where would I be able to download the 8 installer? Thanks

Hi, is the installer an upgrade disk or a full install disk. If it is an upgrade, its looking for a previous versions of pro tools which mah not be on the disk now since you reformatted.

Did you upgrade from 7 or 6 or do you have any previous disks? Does the DVD installed say upgrade ?

No, I haven't upgraded from a previous version so the disk isn't an upgrade disk.

Check the compatibility grid to be sure, but I don't think 8.x will work with 10.6.x(pretty sure 10.5.8 was the last OSX version that would allow LE8 to be installed, and some had success by updating the OS after Pro Tools was working on Leopard).

I have installed pro tools 8LE on Lion 10.7.

There must be something else going on. Perhaps its a bad install disk.

Pro Tools 8 LE works even on 10.8 Mountain Lion. Go to Library/Receipts and delete all folders related to Digidesign, then try to install again.
