Default 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 + Sierra + PT 12.7.1???

Is anyone using this combo?

I have a 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 - 8 core 2.26GHz and run PT 12.7.1 fine now, BUT
I kinda need to move to OSX 10.12 Sierra.....

I searched the forums & web but didn't get anything really.
Would appreciate anyones advice that is using or has tried this combo before i do anything......

Thanks very much!

I had that exact combo. It didn't work. You can install, but things just don't work. Went back to 11.3; then sold the computer so I could get modern.

..same as yours mac (4.1 , 8 core) and all runs smooth with PT HDX 12.71
on Sierra.
You have to make a EFI-update for your 4.1 mac pro to become a
5.1 which then runs Sierra well.

> search for "EFI-upgrade 4.1 5.1 mac pro " or similar on google.
install the EFI update on your mac pro (can be a bit tricky)
and he becomes (depending on compatible Hardware) a 5.1.

The 4.1 (2009)and 5.1 macpro (2010-2012)
are nearly identically regarding the Hardware,
so its possible to upgrade an 4.1 to an 5.1 with the EFI ,
which Sierra needs as minimum.

You can upgrade the CPU's to make it a 12 core, that will triple the current power, with geekbench scores over 30,000. I've done it twice and am happy to walk you through it.

As long as you don't need thunderbolt, that computer will easily last another 5 years and handle any OS and DAW needs you'll ever have for the foreseeable future!
