HD Native for me, with an old blue face I/O for now. Now that the upper hardware is open with some good drivers, both PT 9 and REAPER 4 x64 will be making full use of the I/O. I can finally invest in the high end I/O and not be tethered to the old digidesign proprietary frame of mind from years gone by(Sorry to digi and it's old guard, but I hope you dont come back). A new Neve 1073LB will be my hardware "H.E.A.T." ...and a new Intel i7 6-core build is currently in the making.

I'm selling my digi002 (finally!) and picking up the mackie blackbird. Its gonna cost me a lot less, and will be so many times better!

(it should be noted that it was probably mackie who really pushed for this. remember their m-powered driver deal??)

Also, I'm think about the Lynx Aurora 8/FW. Is this an awesome piece?

Hmmmm....interesting. I've been using 2 profire 2626s for the 16 analogue inputs for sometime now, but have really come to the realization that the pres in there aren't cutting the mustard. I'm currently going through the boutique pre jungle and updating there...looking at channel strips to get some eq/compression at the recording stage etc also.

I guess now I can look at boards to do that job, as long as it has some sort of firewire connectivity. But will PT 9 be opened up for all interfaces or just some lucky brands etc?

Or....am I better off looking at completely analogue boards and go through dedicated apogee converters? Or maybe just plug my pres through the converters and look for pres with some extra eq/dynamic functionality.

Too many question........good news though.

Then comes the question....Does one stay with M-powered? Will there even be M-Powered/LE/HD versions?

I'm selling my 002R and going with a MOTU 828mk3 with my API Lunchbox as a front end.

Good days are here with PT9!

Presonus Firestudio lightpipe with 4 Presonus Digimax LTs connected to my 1st gen white MacBook. 32 channel mobile recording rig. Tested it last night and it's working SO well! (minus not seeing text on the plugin windows, but this is just the recording interface)

For now I'm sticking with my 003, but with the option being open it will be fun to do some research on the possibilites...

Next week I'm dropping PT9 in a buddies studio who is using a Spirit 328 digital console plugged in via light pipe to a MOTU 2408mk3. Currently he is running Digital Performer 6 and Logic. He has always wanted to option to run Pro Tools with his Hardware setup. Should be some interesting testing...

I did a bunch of digging into just that subject this morning...

From what I was able to find, it will work.

BTW: It's actually GS-R24, and if you know where the "GS" came from, there's a bunch of information on that forum...

Just rockin'...what more is there?

So many choices are available now..... where does one start?

Anywhere between incremental upgrades (with more bits and pieces) to a wholesale upgrade (replacing everything) - decisions, decisions....

I like the sound of your 8 core Mac ddjembe and I/O aggregation on the Mac is a great config option....

But a Xeon Dual-six core PC also sounds good using a ZED32 or Tascam DM4800 or just some extra ADAT I/O for my Profire 2626....

Anyway, DAW#1 will keep chugging along happily with 3 x Delta 1010s in the meantime

PT 9 with an Apogee Duet, and I'm a happy camper. I was doing everything in Logic, but I'm digging being back in Tools land...
