The Windows 7 update is still in the works. Unfortunately, as always, I cannot give details about possible release dates.

Thanks Digi,,,, I have W7 on our other PC's allready, really like it and looking forward to the results of your hard work!! But you know how it is,,,,, not knowing whether its gonna be out this year, next summer, or next year(????) is kinda hard! And of coarse, all the 'what is on it' questions that everyone is waiting for?!!

7 64 bit is another story.......Standalone Apps work with the 003 like SoniKSynth and Amplitube. PT will not however....

hey mike...keep this in mind (well maybe not so much with your i7 tho)...there is an 18-19% performance hit goin' from XP to W7 x32. so for those runnin' huge sessions on anythin' other than i7's and start to run outta horses then that performance will have to be recoup'd from somewhere...either bringin' that session back up on XP or gettin' juice from the rig itself. just sayin' and i do have W7 x32 tweaked pretty good and it's still sufferin' the hit.

Thusly, at this point, there's no reason to update to Windows 7 unless Digidesign can manage to create a true 64-bit application in Pro Tools...Zzzzzz...Wasted time again...

true...especially for what is public right now...8.0.1 is NOT tuned for W7 x32/x64 nor does it claim to be

but for those that just wanna play-around/test with PTLE on the OS, no harm. and i say 'play-around' ONLY because 8.0.1 is NOT W7 ready. i do so 'cause all 6 of my OSes are on 1 drive and a re-boot is easily done where i can pull that same session right back up. but even then re-boots can become a pain!!

and one more thing to keep in mind...W7 latency is 8-10x worse than XP. my system test at 7-15us latency under XP...W7 is 60-120us. still it is well suited for real-time audio processin' but a BIG hit again none-the-less.
