True... I just wanted to try the downloads to see what all the complaints were about. I'm not installing them. If I ever do, it will be just to test the install. There is no upgrade value. (Other than with Hybrid3.)

After trying out the downloads, I get the feeling the servers are at their limit. I bet they are holding back on sending the upgrade codes in order to prevent overloading the servers.

Hate to be a party pooper, but have to say that all of my downloads & installs for PT HD11 worked perfectly on both OS X Mavericks and Windows 8.1. Zero Issues as described here and throughout (and now allows four 4 x license installs if you count both for PC and Mac). Having said this, I do agree that AIR could improve the whole process & according to reasonably widespread conventions:

i) provide standalone plugin downloads for those instruments that do not require library updates;
ii) provide a separarte installation management app a la IK Multimedia's 'Authorisation Manager' or Native Instrument's 'Service Centre' (perhaps this may be intended for the future, was erroneously mentioned in one AIR document);
iii) provide some clear documentation about the downloads and the overall process;
iv) provide an installer that correctly allows for custom installs (the current does not recognise alternate drive paths);
v) and finally, fix the omission that present Authorization apps cannot De-Authorize; imagine the gnashing to teeth that will happen when users upgrade computers, wish to transfer licences to other disks etc. Bring back the dongle I say.

I'm sure you're right. I have owned Velvet since day one and upgraded to PTIEP when it was Avid's, then upgraded to v2 when it was AIR's, but still have not received the email. Would not even know about the upgrade if it wasn't posted on DUC...

what i don´t understand is, why didn´t they make seperate installers for users who just need the plugin updates? Or is there something new in the soundlibraries?

Having a lot more success downloading one at a time i.e. no stalled or incomplete files :) It's a bit of a pain in the buttocks but so was finding half the stuff hadn't downloaded properly

So what do I need to do when I upgrade my Mac then?

Agreed about the iLok authorisations, far simpler!

Stephen

Why not do what I do with all downloads whether I think I'll need to reinstall or not and that is to save them off to another disk. 8 gig or so goes on double layer/sided dvd's and bigger files (if they can't be split) go on an external hard drive. That way if you ever need to reinstall for any reason then you have the files right there.
