Upgrade PT to 12 over 11?

I'm running Windows 7 and PT 11.3.1. And it runs fine. I want to upgrade to 12. Is it a requirement to do a clean PT install? I upgraded to 11 over my old PT.

It seems that in place upgrades of software generally work fine. I'm just checking to see if PT _Requires_ a clean install?

Clean install is not necessary, but regarded as more reliable by some. Installing over 11 will tell you that your 11 version will be replaced by 12, that's it.

In the long run, you'll probably save yourself a lot of time by uninstalling all your PT 11 stuff, then install the 12 HD driver, then PT 12. It isn't much of a shortcut if you have to do it over.

I did a clean install for 11. Then installed 11.2 and 11.3 over the top of it with no problems. I'm going to be building a new DAW in a couple of months, and will do a clean install at that point I think.
