Default Avid Audio Event - 12th Nov

https://connect.avid.com/Avid-Audio-Events.html

I wonder what this is? Interesting how it focuses in on the DSP button at the end of the video.

EDIT: The Facebook post about the event includes the hashtags #newgear and #newsoftware

Yes - interesting.

There's a new button (green lightning bolt) on the channel strip, and a new DSP button on a plugin (looks like a compressor).

Perhaps they are introducing a new line of hardware DSP's (maybe less pricey than HD), or maybe acceleration using Universal Audio DSP's (I only hope...).

Good announcements to me would all revolve around somebody, anybody acquiring the Pro Tools business from Avid. Ain’t going to happen however. If this is a new DSP product it really better address the needs of existing higher-end HDX users, I am not sure there is much of a market for non-native stuff at the lower end. I personally have zero interest in “investing” in any Avid hardware lock-in.

The plugin showing in your second screenshot is the Plugin Alliance/BX Neve channel strip. I know because I've been using it for quite a while now. Building on what someone said in another thread here could this be some kind of alliance between the two entities?

Uh oh. Christopher is excited about something.

Well it's has a photo of a Neve channel strip... so that's good.

If this is a form of network AAX-DSP processing I really hope to be blown away by how it works and how it would complement current higher end HDX use where some of Avid's most loyal customers are running out of processing/voices. And hope to be blown away by how Avid makes it work well in low latency/AAX-DSP/monitoring workflows.
