It's just annoying for plugins that require auth files be placed inside, as double clicking will open PT, so you need to ctrl or right click and open package contents, as well as if you want to do any skin changes for plugins that can be done with. Plus, it just flat out annoys me that all my VST and AU plugins are listed as pro tools components and their icon changes (but not for all of them, so sorting by kind no longer lists all my plugins perfectly in order like they were before), when Pro Tools has no business doing such a thing. Pro Tools doesn't even USE the system plugins folder, it uses it's own avid folder in application support. It's irritation.
As far as any stability issues, who knows. I don't think so. I am not sure if PT screws around with the permissions of those folders though, as I can no longer move any vst plugin around without a password every time.

Given it was a JOKE about our (me included ) obsession, what does actually seems pointless is whining about it. Perhaps a stiff shot might help unwind the bloomers a bit ?

So I took the plunge and installed 10.13.6 combo upgrade from 10.13.2
and then PTHD 12.8.7 and HD driver upgrade from 12. 8.1

When I opened on of my session templates with multiple tracks and multiple plugins , both Avid bundled and 3rd party , as soon as I hit the play button it would not play and showed a CPU error message

I opened up a session with mostly audio and few plugins and it played fine
Same with a blank session with not plugs Si I suspect I have a non compatible plugin/s problem

so I quit and opened up the app manager and realized I had 23 pt plugs that needed to be updated Which I am doing now

I will report back after getting all the PT plugins current

OK yes the CPU error problem appears to be solved by updating all my PT plugins

Now to record some sessions

I updated recently around 9/19, and it literally feels like I have a new computer.

This is the best combo (10.13.6+PT 2018.7.0) in a while.
