Can I use Digi 003+ with USB adapter?

I got my self a Macbook with a Firewire port, that is the main studio laptop I use, however, I want to buy a new white Macbook, but they now lack of firewire port. I'd like to use it sometimes to record, but since it has no firewire, I'd like to get a firewire-usb adapter, can I do this and still use it with no problem to record, playback and use ProTools correctly, etc.?
Has anyone done that?

Its not going to work. Just get a small and portable USB interface for travel(Mbox Mini?). And don't expect monster performance as I expect you will be recording to the internal drive(very frowned upon, but okay for getting ideas down). Of course, if you get PT9, you can use almost ANY IO(including the Mac audio ports).

I wouldn't get the white macbook for audio.

If anything, you should spring for the 13" Macbook Pro. Having a FW port is pretty important for any decent audio computer.

Thanks for the replies, now I'm considering the Macbook Pro. I guess I'll have to keep using the previous Mac to record and the new just for mixing, I know they're not the best options for audio, but it's what I can get for now.
Do you think a used iMac (24") will do for the studio recordings?

Depends how old we're talking. Not many previous generation of iMacs were much more powerful than a Macbook.

Do you know what generation it is?
