How to fix "clipped" MIDI?
I've got 10 MIDI tracks with drums recorded with Roland V-Drums. Some settings and/or triggers were set up wrong, because a good chunk of the MIDI has a velocity of 127, and that's not how the drummer played it. I do NOT want to go over every single note to create a more dynamic performance.
Any tips?

Re: How to fix "clipped" MIDI?
Select parts of the performance that you are happy with and 'Extract Groove'
Then apply the new groove template to the sections that you are not happy with : )

Re: How to fix "clipped" MIDI?
Where are the sounds coming from? If its the sounds from the Roland module, you can edit the midi fast and easy, or lower the volume in the drum brain. If its a drum VI like ezdrummer or Addictive Drums, just lower volumes inside the plugin mixer. Back to the midi, if its something like all the kick hits are too hot, Select to show Velocity in the edit window, select all the kick notes on the piano roll(by clicking on the proper key on the tiny keyboard at the left of the midi/instrument track), and drag them down a few notches(by selecting the note on the tiny keyboard, all the kick hits will be selected). If this doesn't help, describe the setup and process in more detail and I bet someone has a simple solution for you

Re: How to fix "clipped" MIDI?
Thanks, guys.
I could try to extract the groove, that's true. Forgot about that one. One problem is where there's two kick notes in rapid succession, let's say 16th notes in 120 BPM. When both have a velocity of 127, it sounds horrible to me. I could do some velocity scaling and trimming in both PT and Superior 2, but both notes would still have the same velocity. This drummer normally plays the first kick hit significantly softer in these types of grooves. I can't find a way to select notes between the 8th notes, which would mean the 16th notes. Can it be done? That would be awesome. It's 10 songs, so worst-case scenario is a fair amount of hours to get this done properly. Thanks.

Re: How to fix "clipped" MIDI?
Did you try lowering the volume of the kick in the SD2's own mixer? That works for me.

Re: How to fix "clipped" MIDI?
Are you saying that you CAN'T open the SD2 mixer and lower the fader for the kick? Note that there may be more than 1 fader as some of the kits have inside, outside and far "mic" tracks.

Re: How to fix "clipped" MIDI?
Very strange indeed! How about changing the dynamic range or sensitivity in the Roland module? I run a TD-10 setup and get 127 plenty, but never have seen a midi clip(is it possible to clip midi?). Wish I was there to see. I feel like I am missing some detail that would make the lightbulb light up Maybe midi input properties has an odd setting?
