Default Official UAD TDM Offer / Statement

I know this was discussed earlier but its in the current issue of the webzine.

The TDM to UAD X-grade plan

1. Buy any version of the UAD-1/UAD-1e card and get all your existing UA TDM plug-ins that you purchased for iLok transferred FREE to your new UAD-1/1e account. (there is a PCIe version now)

2. As a loyal UA customer, your X-grade includes:
1. One FREE UAD plug-in of your choice up to $199 value PLUS
2. a UAD$100 voucher to use at my.uaudio.com.

3. “New” RTAS Plug-In versions will be enabled via V2.x UAD VST-RTAS adapter by FXpansion and are fully-compatible with ProTools 7.x on Mac & PC.

If their plugins are good enough to make you buy a card then surely they are good enough to compete with BF/Digi "free" plugins. Their stated reasoning for stopping TDM support doesn't make sense.

I can certainly see why this would be a bummer for the future, but my TDM UA plugs seem to be working fine since I updated to PT7.1.
Is there something that I'm missing here? Are these plugins going to blowup or something if I continue to use them with my current configuration? (PT7.1 HD3Accell, G5 2x2Ghz, blah blah blah).

Thanks,
Jamey

Well Jamey - they were never updated to work with Pro Tools 7.x on XP... and you'll have the same problem when you buy your next Mac with an Intel chip.

This seems like a good deal actually. You can buy the cheapest card for $350.00ish.... get all of your plugs transferred and get one for free(ish).

If Im reading the charts correctly, the UAD-1 is way more efficient with the plugins than the HD cards..

Sure, and with a two billion samples latency to match!
