Default PT 6.4 (TDM) - Hints at something for us?

Have you guys seen this? It has several new features (like auto plug-in latency adjustment). I hope something is on the horizon for us PC users (and it better apply to us 001'ers - I haven't even had mine for a year and I bought it brand new).

man, i feel ya on the 001 deal...but if you think about it, they're still making updates for AMIII and toolbox users, so i bet they're gonna include 001 for awhile. atleast long enough for me to save enough for a 002r!

Not really much in the 6.4 update that would be useful for LE, but then why would there be? Its a TDM release.

My tip for the next LE release is inbuilt support for VST/VSTi. I don't read all the posts here so someone may have already said it - if so I agree!

Bombfactory were bought out by digi and I think they were the only large plug-in developer who invested in only RTAS and not VST. Waves have VST as well as RTAS etc.etc. This clears the way for Protools supporting VST out of the box. BF would have lost a lot of sales because of the adapter i reckon.

Cakewalk did it with the VST-DX adapter in Sonar and I reckon Digi will do it with the VST-RTAS adapter in LE. Maybe.........you never know.........there are probably many other factors influencing the decision that I know nothing about.

Hi!
My Prediction? NEVER see VST native in PT.
Why not?
PT is almost a completely "closed system."
Since VST is an open SDK, anyone can develop. And anyone who has tried the VST-RTAS adapter with certain VST's, they know first hand how some are not completely "within spec." Allowing something "wild" like this to exist natively within the enviornment would be a truly bad idea.

With the VST-RTAS wrapper, there really is no reason to do it either.
And shy of a few things that I (and many others) hope 6.4 will 'fix," I find PT to be very solid and stable (unlike other apps I have tried...).

All I can say is a lot of people seem to use these "other apps" (not to name names on Digi's forum)quite happily.

I wouldn't for a second think that native VST support would be good on TDM, but LE is a different matter.

Meh, if they do it, they do it - if they don't, then they don't. Between Rewire and RTAS Digi probably have the bases covered anyway. Im just bored and enjoy speculating.

1. I guess digi smart enough to see all the bounce to disk posts here. = Must be fixed .

2. I heard that the PDC in 6.4 is only for TDM should check that.

Hello,
i hope digi will introduce BTD in non-real time (faster)...

and Ignore Buffer Underrun Errors (already availlable for Mac)

and patch names for midi GS GM and XG...

and auto plug-in latency adjustment ...

and a nice feature to organize plugins in folders...

...as well as surround and beat detective for LE...hem just kidding

I hope digi does NOT begin a faster than real time BTD, because that would mean any one using outboard gear or midi along with the PT rig will have to print it all and eat up valuable tracks before bouncing!!!

They should make us, LE users, a beat detective!! They even dont have to upgrade PTLE, just make us a standalone proggie where we can make our grooves for PTLE. Thats all I need!
