Default Playlist Naming Bug? (Unhelpful Feature?)

Just figured out the hard way that if you have a track named this:

Harp2L

...and duplicate the playlist, the name accurately becomes this (which is good!):

Harp2L.01

But if you name the track this:

Harp2 L

...the duplicated playlist becomes this:

Harp2.01 L

Which is totally unusable and makes for complete havoc in a complex editing session if it's grouped with other tracks. The other tracks won't do playlist selection the same way. Chaos. Seems like -space- followed by the audio letters L, R, C, M, Ls, Rs, all create this. Other random letters like P, M, W, don't. What is the thinking behind this? When would it EVER be useful to see Harp2.01 L?

I can see a use for this. When you want to keep grouped (multi-mono) tracks to stay in the same channel order as file/clip names when they are printed/tracked down. Or you split a multichannel track to monos.

However, I don't ever drop empty spaces in track names. There's always an underscore or dash (or elimination of the space.) It makes auto-created file names easier to deal with.

Now that I have a better understanding of the (undocumented) rules, I can get some work done. You're probably right, BScout.

It does seem odd in your usage but it is consistent behavior when a channel suffix is used.

I too use underscores instead of spaces when necessary.
