Default Best method for slowing down tempo?

The nightmare scenario: You track a song, overdub everything and then decide it's 2BPM too slow during the mix! Ahhhhhhhhh!

How do pro engineers go about speeding up an entire song so there are no (noticeable) artifacts? Do they use Serato P&T...or Elastic Audio track? Track by track? Do they do it in 4 bar chunks? Do they just do it to the final stereo bounce?

I tried taking a stereo mix and using the generic Digi "Time Shift" in AudioSuite, but it sounds terrible, even when only speeding up the track 1BPM.

I recently used EA to speed up a song 5BPM the other day with no noticeable artifacts. Usually its the slowing down process that you have to worry more about.

How did you do it? Did you do it to all the tracks in the multi session or just to a stereo mix?

Just a stereo mix. If you use X-Form it should work out fine. Takes a minute or two to render it, but the song didn't sound any different other than faster.

Yep... the X-Form algorithm made all the difference. It takes "forever" to render but sounds almost flawless. The other algorithms are unlistenable by comparison.
