Default ProTools not recognizing ProRes422 codec?

ProRes422 is on the list of 'supported' codecs, but when I try and import the video file in that format, I'm getting a no supported codec can be found... Any ideas why? I have the codec installed, since I used Compressor to make the file.

Question Re: ProTools not recognizing ProRes422 codec?

Does the file play in either QuickTime Player 7 or QuickTime Player X?

Yep, that's the weird thing, it plays perfectly fine in Quicktime Payer, Quicktime 7 player, any other players I try. But try to import to ProTools, get that error and it won't import it.

I had the same issue, prores proxy working fine, prores hq not recognized. Both played correct within qt 7 and x. Only one machine played back hq within protools (11.1.3 btw), which is the one with finalcut installed. I solved the issue by copying the prores ENcoder to all other machines qt folders (check google for exact folder, can't check right now). Prores decoders are default I think, but the encoder only comes with finalcut (afaik).

I cant remember any issues with pt 11.0.X, only had one machine test running that before upgrading all to 11.1.X

Um, thanks 1) for moving my post, and 2) for not answering with anything helpful. Why did you move it? This is clearly something related to Pro Tools and MAC. This is not a Post and Surround issue, this is a Mac related Software bug.

F'ing useless this DUC.

It was moved here (with a one month redirect placeholder in the original forum) because it has to do with video:

By the way, I'm the forum admin, not a tech. I help out when I might have an answer, but try to direct traffic to wherever someone is most likely to be able to help, like here.

Same issue here with Pro Res 422 from Premiere. Had to get an H264 to make it work. Sent a copy of the problematic file to Avid.

My first questions were are you getting the Pro Res codec from?
My understanding has been that you have to use the codec pack that FCP(X) installs not the general download codec.
Not sure if this is till the case.
