Default Mbox 2 Pro Spdif

So I found my old mbox (with the focusrite preamps) and I heard that I could use the preamps/spdif of it in conjunction to another recording i/o (my mbox 2 pro). I wanted to fully expand all 6 channels on my mbox, but i can't get the spdif to fully work. I dumbed down to 44.1, set the old mbox to spdif. What do i do then? Do I need an external clock? some help! I feel like i'm so close, yet so far!!!

I don't think that will work. You could use the old Mbox for its 2 preamps if you set the MIX knob to direct, run the outputs to line inputs of the new Mbox and juice the old one with a powered USB hub.

Agreed. I don't think there's any way to route the signal from the preamps straight to the S/PDIF outputs. You actually can't even use the regular analog outputs in that manner, the only way to use the original Mbox pre's in "standalone" is to use the Insert jacks to get the signal out, which requires special cables.
