Default PT 10.3 & 11 Installing Plugins

Hello!!

I have just managed to re-install 10.3 after upgrading to 11.

I am now having an issue trying to install VST & RTAS plugins for 10.3. I've got a feeling that it is installing or trying to install to the 11.0 folders rather than the 10.3 folders.

Has anyone had this issue that can lend a hand?

Cheers

Hi,

What issues exactly are you having?

Obviously VST plugins don't work in pro tools!

Are you installing the latest version of both 10 and 11?

Are plugins not showing up in pro tools, what's happening?

What OS version are you on and what interface are you using?

Chris

Hi,

Sorry didn't mean VST. Getting confused between the formats!!

Think I have solved the problem by manually moving the .dpm to the plugins folder.

Cheers

Judging from your screen name you're on a Mac right? If so PT 10 and 11 use the same folder for aax plugins. That folder should be at Mac HD/Library/ApplicationSupport/Avid/Audio . There will be two folders there - one for unused plugins and one for plugins that are being used. The RTAS plugins should be in Mac HD/Library/ApplicationSupport/Digidesign and again there should be two folders as there is for aax plugins and it's these folders that hold the .dpm RTAS plugins.

You also haven't said what version of OSX you are running but in Mountain Lion Apple hid the Library folder. You can unhide it by following the instructions here: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7...my-library-go/

For a co-install of PT 10 and PT 11 you're going to need PT 10.3.6 or 10.3.7; lower versions won't work. Also as you should know RTAS plugins aren't used in PT11 and PT never has used vst plugins although they can be installed on a Mac.

I'm writing all this based on the fact I had PT 10.3.7 installed before I installed PT 11.0.2

Cheers for the info! My user name is CraveMac, but my last name is MacIntosh haha!

I can and have found the plugin folders, like I have done in the past to move plugins to the unused folder for later use.

Thanks for the help though

I only assumed you were on a Mac because you didn't give any info on your computer system and I figured from the screen name you were. Cool last name! Glad you figured it out.

As i,m about to go to pt11, could you tell me..
Did you update to Mountain Lion from "Lion" ?
How did you do it .. update or clean install?

I,m running a Mac Mini server with Lion 10.7.5 (it has a recovery partition)
I thought i could just update/install over Lion but i read this from Avid
…..We highly recommend you avoid updating an existing OS install to 10.8….Mountain Lion
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/h...to-Mac-OS-10-8

Does this still apply?
cheers
