PT 10 Amnesty (I got screw*d)

I feel I got screwed by Avid. I had bought ONE MONTH AGO (9 Sept'11) an upgrade from my Didi 003 with PT 9 System to a PT HD Native + Omni with PT 9HD for almost 6'000 USD.

Now after having some technical problems that couldn't be resolved by Avid Support(Code inlcuded) a got my Rig finally working, recording very well and using everything up to 32 buffer recording. BUT yesterday I get to know that to have the latest PT Software (Pro Tools HD10) I have to pay 1'000 USD.

Doesn't feel fair to me.

Someone feels or thinks the same?

My feeling is you'll get a free upgrade to 10 if you purchased it last month. give it a second to hash out.

Avid states Purchase on or after October 1st, 2011 get's a complimentary copy of Pro Tools 10.

Having an "ONLY" about 2 weeks of amnesty? Come on!!! These guys are supposed to be the leaders in this industry! I am SOOO mad! At the bare minimum, it should be at least 90 days of amnesty! All this tells me is how GREEDY one can be. The upgrade shouldn't be this expensive... I would agree with a $149 upgrade like most DAW's , but $299??!?? This really does make me think about giving up totally on Pro Tools...

Ouch. That burns. It is not so much Avid trying to screw you over but they need to set a cut-off date and no matter where they set it, someone is going to feel like they got screwed. There have been rumors floating all over the place these last two months so this should not be a total surprise that Protools 10 came out at AES (even I was a doubter before the announcement). Well, you purchased Protools 9 knowing what features it has so go with it for now unless you absolutely need PT10 (it may have some bugs that we haven't found yet anyway)

Thanks for the comment guys, at least I feel somebody is listening out there. It acts like a kind of Catharsis (In psycology means to release tension).

So since I got my Avid Native Card + HD Omni and PT HD9 registered on september the 14th that means I am out, great :-¦ 6'000 bucks investment!
So a guy that just buys Mbox mini now for 500 bucks receives the PT 10 for free and I that spent 6'000 1 month ago am out. I guess...Fairness = Avid (not)

Hope I can get it so far I see nothing in my account... :-(

Just spoke with Avid support and he told me Avid only gives amnesty to users that bought it from the 1st of October. So I was screwed... since I bought my system on mid september....

I was an Avid fan till yesterday...

This is total BS. $1000 is insulting.
Im in the same boat--If this was $299 I'd whip out the credit card today and be done with it.
Instead Im thinking about getting a book on logic pro...

Would they have set it for September 1rst, those that bought it in august would have felt screwed. Would have they set it for August those who bought it in July would have felt screwed, and so on. There's just no way out of it, because a company doesn't stop selling their products until the very moment they release something better.
